Infection Prevention and Control: Program Assessment Tools

This training describes four tools that can be used to assess an infection prevention and control program

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • conduct a Gap Analysis in the context of infection prevention and control;
  • conduct a Risk Assessment in the context of infection prevention and control; and
  • conduct a SWOT Analysis in the context of infection prevention and control.

Target Audience
This presentation is appropriate for anyone working in a clinical setting or who is interested in how to assess an infection prevention and control program.

Instructor
Sarah Smathers, MPH, CIC, FAPIC is the senior manager of infection prevention and control at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and adjunct professor at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health. Smathers has conducted research in infectious diseases and infection prevention and has a special interest in the design of IPC programs.

Level
This course is appropriate for those with no or basic levels of experience with assessing infection prevention and control programs.
